What is an ETF?
ETF stands for Exchange Traded Fund and give you access to a whole world of investment options, covering a broad range of asset classes, sectors and geographies. If you are looking to diversify your investments or gain exposure to a certain industry or market, then ETFs can be the right fit for your portfolio.
ETFs are typically designed to track an index that represents an asset class such as equities or fixed income. To do this requires that the ETF holds many different holdings, and sometimes dozens from within that asset class. Therefore, a single ETF trade can provide instant exposure to a diversified portfolio of securities over an entire asset class. This diversification can help reduce concentration risk in portfolios. ETFs are highly liquid as they can be bought and sold during the trading day.
