Holiday scam

written on November 13, 2023

With the holiday season approaching always be aware of deals that seem too good to be true or holiday accommodations that are not listed on official booking websites or other packaged holidays or offers.

Annually non-delivery scams result in millions of losses and thousands of people fall victim to holiday scams primarily due to the non-delivery of goods or services paid for.

Always be aware of the website URL and verify when has the website been created or any scam reported of non-delivery of goods including any reviews. Verify the legitimacy of the seller before moving forward with a purchase. When using websites verify the feedback and reviews of a seller prior to proceeding with a purchase. Always be careful with sellers who advise they are travelling for business or out of the country and are unable to ship the goods.

Remember if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

CONSIDER

Always be careful how you pay and never pay directly to a seller account. Wherever possible it is always better to use your debit card when shopping online. In instances of non-delivery, you may be eligible for a chargeback.

MONITOR

Always ensure your online order is tracked to follow the delivery process. Be aware of sellers asking you to send funds to a country that is not linked to the service or goods being paid for.
