Last year, we invited our community to help shape the future of Moneybase cards through our 2025 Card Design Competition. Today, those designs officially come to life.
The competition brought together artists, designers, and creatives who submitted original concepts inspired by the Moneybase brand and community. Following a public voting phase, the top voted designs were selected to become part of the Moneybase experience.
The new physical cards
The new collection introduces two physical card designs, replacing the previous Moneybase card design.
The winning design from the competition is now available as a physical Moneybase Mastercard, featuring an illustration of the Valletta skyline, reflecting the creativity and vision of our community. Alongside it, a new in-house design by the Moneybase team, featuring the Maltese cross, an element that also forms part of the Moneybase logo.
All Moneybase clients can order the new card designs directly through the app. If you are looking to switch to a new design, we encourage you to align your order with your next card renewal or replacement or alternatively using a virtual card until then, as a small step towards reducing plastic waste and supporting a more sustainable environment.
The new virtual cards
The competition didn’t stop with one winning design. Finalist designs from the 2025 Card Design Competition are now available as virtual card options through the Moneybase app, giving all users access to the collection instantly.
The three designs draw on Malta’s cultural heritage and the Moneybase brand, featuring the Upper Barrakka Gardens, the historic public gardens in Valletta that overlook the Grand Harbour, the luzzu, the traditional Maltese fishing boat recognised as one of the island’s most iconic cultural symbols, and a design centred around the Moneybase logo.
